Vitor
Lopes & Chorando as Pitangas
-
Harmonica player and songwriter Vitor Lopes, alongside with the
“Choro” group “Chorando as Pitangas”,
launches their first CD showing the Brazilian “suingue”
of an harmonica.
The Group has a regional formation, showing Vitor´s own
repertoire, beyond classics of “Pixinguinha”, “Jacob
do Bandolim” and “Severino Araújo”
Who said that is not possible to add groove to an harmonica? The
proper answer is found in the CD “Vitor Lopes & Chorando
as Pitangas”, that LUA MUSIC proudly releases.
“Chorando as Pitangas” is formed by by great professionals
of São Paulo´s “Choro”, Milton Mori (mandolin),
Luisinho 7 Cordas (seven strings acoustic guitar), Roberta Valente
(pandeiro / percussion) and Ildo Silva (cavaquinho / Brazilian
typical guitar) creating a perfect musical environment for well
inspired solos by Vitor Lopes on music by Ernesto Nazareth, Altamiro
Carrilho, Severino Araújo, amongst others.
Vitor Lopes is 31 and started his career in pop rock bands, then
he got close and passionate for the Brazilian rhythms and today
is considered to be one of the standouts of the contemporary “Choro”.
With an academic background, he has taken part in records of renowned
artists such as “Arnaldo Antunes” , “Chitãozinho
& Xororó” and “Palavra Cantada”.
The repertoire was chosen in a way to prove how inventive and
flexible an hjarmonica can be played. Even in solo moments, as
in “Eu Cheguei”, by Pixinguinha and Benedito Lacerda,
first track of the CD and where Vitor plays different harmonicas
or “Tico Tico no Fubá” by Zequinha de Abreu,
where, graciously, he dialogues with the Milton Mori´s mandolim.
Another precious moment is found at “Noites Cariocas”
by Jacob do Bandolin. Here, the Harmonica is presented in it´s
best, full of groove, as if it wanted to talk (and it does!).
Vitor´s own composition, “Tachinha” also deserves
prominence, as well as “Perto do Coração”
with special guest appearance of piano palyer and songwriter ,
Nelson Ayres, in perfect intermeshing and timing between the piano
and the Harmonica
“Vitor Lopes & Chorando as Pitangas” unite technique
and sophistication with spontaneity and good humour, in a well
chosen repertoire that mixes “samba” , “choro”
, “maxixes” and waltzes. A broad and personal picture
of the best of the Brazilian music of all times.
.
Vera
Medina - Resolution
-
The singer, composer, multi-instrument and music producer Vera
Medina launches her first CD, “Resolution”. The repertoire
joins the electronic and the acoustic in rhythms as Bossa Nova,
House, Trip Hop, Drum'n'bass, Pop and Jazz. With a pleasant and
creative environment, the album is the register of more than one
decade of career of this São Paulo´s talented , soft
and melody voice artist. The album has a party mood abut also
suggests a lounge vibe for a more intimate atmosphere. Showing
own compositions, the album also shows Vera´s abilities
as an experienced instrument, playing the piano and acoustic guitar
and also programming. With songs in Portuguese and English, “Resolution”
is up to date music from Brazil, made with ability and talent.
.
Trash
80's - Volume 1: Edição Nacional
- The Trash 80´s party , one of the greatest parties
of São Paulo´s nightlife is commemorating its 4th
birthday and the fans are the ones to get the big gift.
A successful partnership between the
promoters of the event and Lua Music is set with with the launch
of Trash 80´s Volume 1 – National Edition, with
a selection of successes of the 80´s that travel through
different parts of the Brazilian pop music. It goes from Sidney
Magal (Me chama que eu vou) and Herva Doce (Amante Profissional)
up to Angélica (Vou de táxi) and Dominó
(Companheiro), A Turma do Balão Mágico & Fábio
Jr. (Amigos do Peito – Somos Amigos) and Vanusa (Eu Sobrevivo).
It all started with the DJs Eneas Neto and Tony, the Trash 80’s
party get around 2,000 people every single weekend in 2 different
addresses: The Caravaggio Club, in São Paulo´s
downtown and at The Spazio, in the suburb of Vila Olímpia.
The 80´s fever started over there and spread quickly throught
the country and brought back to the stage artists once forgotten
like Gengis Khan, Afonso Nigro and Rita Cadilac. The CD has
13 tracks, 2 of them are unreleased: “Marrom Glacê”
, by Ronaldo Resedá and the funny “É Bom
para o Moral” , by Rita Cadilac – both tracks were
never released in the CD format and are hard to find in Long
Plays, worth a look.
.
Padre
Juarez - Deus Está Aqui
-
Considered the new communication phenomenon of the catholic church
in Brazil, The Priest Juarez launches its first CD “Deus
está Aqui” (God Is Here)
The CD has special guest appearance of the Priest Antônio
Maria, it brings songs of the catholic universe and successes
of the Brazilian music bringing messages of love and faith.
He
is considered a “Pop Priest”, Juarez Pedro de Castro,
know as Priest Juarez, who celebrate the masses in the Sé
Cathedral in the old center of São Paulo, after participating
in many radio and TV shows, he turned out to be a of communication
phenomenon of the catholic church in Brazil . Aiming to spread
God´s words even more, Juarez is launching its first CD,
“Deus está Aqui” (God Is Here) with a repertoire
that mixes songs of the catholic universe and Brazilian music,
always with messages of love and faith. Born in Lavras (MG), he
is 39 and was commanded Priest in the 9th of December, 1995. He
is degreed in Theology at the Theological Institute Sagrado Coração
de Jesus (Taubaté/SP) and in Philosophy at the Educational
Foundation of Brusque (Brusque/SC). The decision to become a Priest
was difficult. His father, Sílvio de Castro, a politician
and one of the influences for the boy in dealing with the public,
was one against the decision. When he was aware of his son´s
decision he decided not to be in touch anymore and only his ordinance,
they got in touch again. His mother even wrote letters for the
seminary asking Juarez to give up, but the brother, who should
have put these letters in the post office, never made it.
The
parents were afraid to lose Juarez. Later, the mother felt much
pride and the father, only confessed itself with his son. "We
do not take care of the people who we baptize. The Church has
to go after the loyal ones and be open too. Our paper, as a Priest,
is to be the intermediary in this communication ", says Priest
Juarez. He doesn´t dress like a traditional Priest as once
a lady once gave him her seat in the subway: " I never used
it after that, I am not better than anybody." In the CD repertoire
are tracks as “Médico dos Médicos” ,
of Cláudio Fontana, that has special guest appearance of
Priest Antônio Maria, beyond “Tocando em Frente”
(Almir Sater/Renato Teixeira), “Foste Tu” (Maurício
Gaetani), “Nossa Senhora Mãe de Deus” (Marcelo
Mattos), “Deus Está Aqui” (Carlos Papae) and
“Manda Fogo” (Jeferson Cristo and Gustavo).
Edson
X - Ginga - A Alma do Futebol Brasileiro
- The
CD with the soundtrack of “Ginga – A Alma do Futebol
Brasileiro” (Ginga - The Soul of the Brazilian Soccer),
presents a dancing repertoire mixing dub, samba, rap, funk and
baião.
The album was produced by the drums player and composer Edson
X and was already successfully released in Japan bringing special
guest appearance of rapper Black Gero and illustrations by The
Twins “Os Gêmeos”.
The drums player, composer and music producer Edson X loves soccer
and is a “Palmeiras” supporter fan. When the directors
Hank Levine, Marcelo Machado and Tocha Alves invited him to produce
the soundtrack for “Ginga” , he didn´t hexitate:
"I admire the creativity and the talent of the Brazilian
soccer players. In this work I had chance to blends this “ginga”
to music ".
Produced by “O2 Films” , who also produced “Cidade
de Deus” (City of God) , in partnership with Nike and the
Wieden + Kennedy Entertainment, “Ginga” was launched
in april 2006, already accumulating a fair number of spectators.
The movie shows 10 estories on soccer, beyond the one of gifted
player, Robinho, filmed in different states as São Paulo,
Amazonas, Bahia and Santa Catarina. It shows the Rio de Janeiro´s
“Romarinho” , inhabitant of “Rocinha”
(biggest slum in Rio), that after the movie presentation in Buenos
Aires was hired by an Argentinean soccer club and Wescley ,who
had his life radically modified by soccer: when he prepared for
a goal keeper test, a car ran over and he ended up losing a leg.At
the time of the accident he was in the sidewalk watching a soccer
game on a bar TV. Today, with the aid of a crutch he is a standout.
In one of the most interesting moments , “Robinho”
finds his first coach, who shows him a tape where he as a young
promisse, defended his team and scored some goals.
The CD has 14 tracks, where different musical styles interact
as Edson X defines as “cyber-roots-brazuca-beats”:
"It is a big blend itself. There are influences of a globalized
culture, that people listen to and reprocesses naturally. The
main characters of the movie live and cohexist with this music,
in a pure and truthful relationship ".
The differentiated cast contribute for this great experience:
MC Black Gero, DJ Celo, Kenio Fuke (keyboards), Sergio Rocha (percussion
/ vocals), Leandre Gomes (guitar), Marcio Hermes (guitar), Marcos
Thomé (bass), Ligeirinho (percussion), Lulinha (acordeon)
and Adonias Souza Jr (trombone).
Edson X played in several great bands of São Paulo as “Gueto”,
“Akira S & As Garotas que Erraram” and “Voluntários
da Pátria’. With “Gueto”, that managed
to hit a national projection, he was one of the first to mix funk,
soul, rap, rock and Brazilian music. Since year 2000 he started
to produce works mixing electronic music and acoustic instruments.
The illustrations of Ginga, that fuses illustration and street
painting and were signed by Gustavo and Otávio, “Os
Gêmeos”.

Sylvia
Patricia - No Rádio da Minha Cabeça
- Sylvia Patrícia launches
her new “No Rádio da Minha Cabeça” (
“In my mind´s Radio” ), where she presents fresh
unreleased tracks incorporating to her Pop music, rhythms as Samba,
Bossa-Nova and Salsa.
The album, that was produced between Salvador, Rio de Janeiro
and São Paulo and has special guest appearance of Jussara
Silveira , includes a multimedia track with video and lyrics.
Sylvia´s fifth album, marks significant changes in the singer,
composer and Bahia born instrumentist work, that lives between
the Salvador-Rio-São Paulo bridge: "From all my 5
CD´s, this is the one I identify myself more with of all,
therefore this heading. With it I opened my own recording studio
in Salvador, “Tubo de Ensaio”, where I did the pre-production.
It is a record basically of fresh unreleased music . This time
I haven´t tried the tracks on stage first".
The CD was produced by Paulo Rafael, well known collaborator of
Alceu Valença, and fuses rhythms as new samba, bossa and
Salsa . Not that Sylvia has become a samba-rocker, but is the
first time that shows these musical influences, which points towards
a more open and eclectic phase. An opening that does not mean
abandonment of urban, modern trends, of sophisticated mixtures
that characterizes her work since her debut album. The track “Ednalva”
is a classic example. Ready since the 80´s , this samba
was a partnership with the musician and movie maker Jorge Alfredo,
was upgraded with electronic textures in the co-production by
Gigi Magno and special guest appearance of Jussara Silveira. The
new album brings a bonus track of “Não quero saber
seu nome” (highlight of “Purpurina 37” ), only
launched in Europe, in the compilation ”World Trends”
(2005). Sylvia has been going to the european continent since
2004, mainly to Spain where she has been gathering positive reviews
by the specialized media. To know more about Sylvia Patricia,

-
Sergio Augusto, one of the main names of São Paulo´s
Bossa Nova launches the album “Tudo que Arde, Cura”

comes back to Bossa kicking it as hard as it gets." Tárik
de Souza (Jornal do Brasil – top Brazilian newspaper)
"(...) a collection of
delicate and still more introverted sambas of Bossa than proper
Bossa as we know it." Pedro Alexandre Sanches (Carta Capital
– top Brazilian Magazine)
"His voice is perfect for
Bossa Nova (soft and modern) and his swing in the acoustic guitar
is unique." This is part of the presentation that Claudette
Soares has written on the singer, composer and acoustic guitar
player, Sergio Augusto in the booklet of the CD “Tudo
que Arde, Cura” that LUA MUSIC proudly launches in the

Edsel
Gomez e Arismar do Espírito Santo-
The CD “América”, more than a meeting of two
great instrumentists of international music, the Brazilian, Arismar
do the Espirito Santo and the Puerto Rican consolidated in the
United States ,Edsel Gomez, is the proof that music can knock
down the borders that man insist to firm. In this album they coexist
in total harmony, the well refined jazz of George & Ira Gershwin
(But not will be me), bolero of Consuelo Vélazquez (Besame
mucho), the bossa of João Donato (Lugar Comum), the samba
of Ary Barroso or even the ballad of Hoagy Carmichael/Stuart Gorrel
(Georgia on my mind), each one of those representing a part of
this giant continent called America. Arismar,
in more than two decades of career, has been acting in shows and
records of the Gal Costa, Hermeto Pascoal, Luizinho Eça,
João Donato and Sebastião Tapajós. In 1993,
his first solo CD, Arismar do Espírito Santo conquered
the Prize Sharp of Music in the category Instrumental Revelation.
He then has been present in three editions of the Free Jazz Festival.
Edsel Gomez is a pianist that combines, with top skills, the jazz,
latin music and the Brazilian suingue acquired between the 80´s
and 90´s, when he lived in Brazil. He played with Cauby
Peixoto, Wilson Simonal and Raul de Souza, among others. His first
solo CD from 1999, called “Celebrating Chico Buarque de
Hollanda” is all dedicated to the workmanship of the composer.
.
Kenio
Fuke - Piano e Natureza
- Kenio Fuke considers the integration of
man and nature in it´s CD Piano e Natureza Vol. 1 - The
CD “Piano e Natureza Vol. 1” , by the pianist and
composer Kenio Fuke is one more release by LUA MUSIC aiming to
bring to the market, in days of as many turbulences as ours, a
decent work that can generate well-being sensations. The proposal
of Kenio is that his music can function as a tool in the aid of
the integration between man and nature, focusing on a balance
between mind and body. The acoustic piano and the keyboards in
all tracks are performed by Kenio Fuke, that also is responsible
for the arrangements and compositions. But the tracks “Canto
das Orquídeas” and “Minutos de Paz” ,
they have the special guest appearence of the acoustic guitar
player, Leandre Gomes. Kenio started his piano classes studies
at the age of 10 with the maestro and teacher Alveraro Belda Neto.
Later he entered the Dramatical Conservatory of São Paulo,
where he degreed in Classical Piano, Composition and Regency.
.
Aldir
Blanc - Vida Noturna
-
Composer and Songwritter Aldir Blanc sings, for the first time
his partnerships with João Bosco, Moacyr Luz and Guinga,
amongst others, in the CD “Vida Noturna” - For those
who waited, it was worth: the CD “Vida Noturna”, that
LUA MUSIC proudly places in the market, brings Aldir Blanc for
the first time singing his partnerships with Guinga, Moacyr Luz,
Maurício Tapajós, Hélio Delmiro, amongst
others. With arrangements, piano and acordeon by Cristovão
Bastos and acoustic guitar by João Lyra, the album also
marks the return of his old friend João Bosco, separated
from Aldir for 20 years, and Bosco sings and beautifully plays
his acoustic guitar in the track that gives name to the CD and
in “Me dá a Penúltima”. Guinga and Moacyr
also lend their voices to the partner in the record, as well as
Delmiro shines once again his remarkable guitar in one of the
tracks. With more than 30 years of excellent services given to
the Brazilian music, Aldir is the author of recorded successes
by Elis Regina, Simone, Nana Caymmi, Emilio Santiago and Leila
Pinheiro, among some interpreters. His poetry is Brazil´s
face. Not the fictitious Brazil, that the media wants to invent,
but real Brazil: sweet, ironic, sensual, tragic, multiple. Born
in Rio in the “Estácio” suburb, Aldir started
in music playing the drums. Degreed in psychiatry, but already
in the university he was totally involved with music participating
and classifying compositions in important music festivals, as
the FIC, for example. Alongside Ivan Lins, Gonzaguinha and others
established “MAU” (University Artistic Movement),
in the beginning of the 70´s, where he also met João
Bosco and together they had formed one of the most victorious
partnerships of the Brazilian music. The pair, that had in Elis
Regina their bigger interpreter, created successes as the classic
“O Bêbado” and “Equilibrista” ,
“Kid Cavaquinho” , “Dois para Lá, Dois
pra Cá” and “O Mestre Sala dos Mares”.
With an important performance in the fight for the copyrights,
Aldir was one of the founders of the “Sombrás”,
supporting entity to the composers and the “Saci”
(Society of the Artist and Independent Composer). Also a writter,
he acted in periodicals as “O Estado de São Paulo”,
“O Dia” and currently he writes for “Jornal
do Brasil”. Between his published books we have “Brasil
Passado a Sujo” (1993) and “Um Cara Bacana na 19º”
(1996). After the split partnership with João Bosco, in
the half of 80´s, Aldir continued with his excellent musical
chronicles alongside the masters as Guinga, Moacyr Luz and Cristovão
Bastos. In 1996 he launched the CD “Aldir Blanc - 50 anos”
, with diverse specia guest appearence exactly in the same year,
Leila Pinheiro recorded “Catavento e Girassol” , exclusively
with Aldir and Guinga compositions. The CD “Vida Noturna”
is Aldir Blanc´s pure state . Either in his own compositions
as “Dois Bomboms e uma Rosa”, that brings irony the
end of a case with “Não há xampu, não
há creme que apague ou que desmarque da tua pele o meu
beijo fedendo a conhaque” " or “Dry” ,
partnership with Moacyr Luz, in which a woman´s voice goes
off “Fiquei pendurada no adeus como um velho avental”
or still in “Resposta ao Tempo” , of Aldir and Cristovão
Bastos, that jeers of the time that “se rói com inveja
de mim, me vigia querendo aprender como eu morro de amor pra tentar
reviver”.

of the group. Among the band influences are the movie “Os

Dan
Nakagawa - O Primeiro Círculo
- The album shows strong personality , features
Paula Lima and global actress Camila Morgado and an eletro-rock-funk
version for Chico Buarque´s – Cotidiano.
Dan Nakagawa, singer, songwritter and instrumentist, presents
his guns: poetry, music balance, rock, soul, electronic beats
and brazilian roots on his debut CD “O Primeiro Círculo”,
all mixed and blended with a lot of soul and groove. The cd presents
10 tracks, own compositions and versions for Cotidiano, of Chico
Buarque and for the public domain track “Se essa Rua”.
The final work shows a lot of maturity, and expresses Dan´s
personality, cult and relaxed, without being superficial, as well
defined by the music journalist and critic, Antônio Carlos
Miguel. Dan started his artistic life at the age of 10, with a
rock´n´roll band. Many life experiences built his
musical background, he lived in New York and Germany for a while
and performed with Paula Lima, Vanessa Da Mata, Jorge Mautner

candidates to join Ney Matogrosso next work, “Um pouco de

Renascença
Samba Clube- Samba do Trabalhador
- Moacyr Luz, Luiz Carlos da
Vila, Zé Luiz, among others present “Samba do Trabalhador”
through the CD “Renascença Samba Clube”. Since
it´s live recording, album registers through a “roda
de samba” (samba live performance )what became a public
gathering phenomenon in Rio de Janeiro, was produced by Moacyr
Luz and has regency of Rildo Hora. What it appeared to be only
one meeting of musicians, using to advantage the mondays, where
the musician normally does not work, ended up in one of the most
livened up and creative “roda de samba” in Rio de
Janeiro. The “pagode” “Samba do Trabalhador”,
who is carried through since May, all mondays in the afternoons,
in the “Renascença Samba Clube” in “Vila
Isabel” , turned out to be a party for a public each more
increasing and interested in the true samba of Rio. The frequency
jumped of about 50 people in the first day for more than 2,000
currently, and grows more and more each week. Everything was registered
in the CD “Renascença Samba Clube”, recorded
live, that LUA MUSIC proudly presents to the market. The project
was masterminded by the singer and composer Moacyr Luz, one of
the most operating artists in the scene of the “Samba Carioca”
, that explains: "These meetings have a historical importance,
therefore they show continuity of the great movements of samba
as it had at the time of the” Cacique de Ramos”, when
guys like Jorge Aragão, Zeca Pagodinho, Fundo de Quintal,
Arlindo Cruz, amongst others. If we will be to run behind history
we go to remember the bar Zicartola, with Zé Keti”,
“O Opinião, with Clementina de Jesus ". Moacyr
speaks on the choice of the repertoire: "Many guys need and
deserve to have a little more exposure. My criterion was purely
for the arrival order”. Today this “roda de samba”
has been frequented for innumerable composers, therefore I found
just that those that had started with me in the first days were
the reference of the record. My only request was that the most
experienced musicians could recorded more recognized tracks therefore
giving basis to the new promissing talents ". In 17 bands,
the album is a truly “who is who” of the best Samba
from Rio. It has since recognized samba guys like Luiz Carlos
da Vila (O Sonho não Acabou), Zé Luiz (Minha Arte
de Amar with Nei Lopes), Moacyr Luz (Cabô meu Pai) and Bandeira
Brazil(Lágrimas de Fogo) and new names as Renato Milagres,
nephew of Zeca Pagodinho that sings “Pintura sem Arte (Candeia),
Wanderley Monteiro (Somos Nós, new hit of samba) and Luiza
Dionízio who shows her talent in “Conceição
da Praia”.“Renascença Samba Clube” was
founded in the 50´s and until today it keeps the tradition
of the Afro-Brazilian culture alive and well looked after.
.
Futricando
- Do Jeito da Gente
- Futricando shows it´s
instrumental music that goes from “suingue” to lyricism.Formed
by great names of São Paulo´s instrumental music,
trio shows own compositions and known workmanships of Brazilian
music, blending and mixing “chorinho” with tango,
flamenco with samba, among others. Futricando is a trio formed
by Cláudio Duarthe in the acoustic guitar , Prata playing
the flutes and mandolin and Welington Moreira (Pimpa) on the percussion.
The CD “Do Jeito da Gente” , more than a register
of compositions and arrangements made by the three multinstrumentists
is the result of years playing together in a harmony that only
sprouts between great musicians and, mainly, that also are good
friends. Beyond own repertoire, them they revisit classics of
the Brazilian music of authors like Pixinguinha, Milton Nascimento,
Dominguinhos and Ary Barroso. In this conception “tango”
can blend with “chorinho” , as well as one “flamenco”
fits perfectly in a samba. For this mixture not to retrocede,
sensitivity is a must alongside with talent and ability that “Futricando”
has of surplus. The group was born in 2001, for a presentation
at the “Music Festival of Avaré” , one of most
popular in the São Paulo countryside, the group finished
taking the first prize in the Instrumental Music category, with
the”Futricando” composition, of Cláudio, besides
conquering the Popular Acclamation prize , unknown fact for an
instrumental group. The trio has recorded more two Cds, “Vida”
(2002) and “Trabalho” (2005). In the CD repertoire
of “Do Jeito da Gente”, own tracks as Breaking Rope
(Prata) and Ichiquiri (Welington Moreira), beyond recriations
of “Na Baixa do Sapateiro” (Ary Barroso), “Bola
de Meia”, “Bola de Gude”(Milton Nascimento/Fernando
Brant), “Guerreiro Menino” (Gonzaguinha) and “Cochichando”(Pixinguinha,
Alberto Ribeiro and João de Barro).
.
Madan
- Brincando com Palavras
-
Focused on treating the child with respect and intelligence, LUA
MUSIC continuous it´s infantile series with the CD “Brincando
com Palavras”, in which the singer and composer Madan places
melodies in inventive poems of São Paulo´s born Jose
Paulo Paes (1926 - 1998). Among the tracks are: “O Bife”
, “Barriga Cheia” and “Gato de China”,
creative and intelligent games of words, that certainly will captivate
and awake the interest of the small ones for the beauty of the
Brazilian poetry. The arrangements are of appraised pianist Keco
Brandão and the record still counts on the vocal participation
of Thomas Roth, singing on the track “Raridade”, a
true manifesto against the extinguishing of one of our more beautiful
birds. Madan was born in São Paulo. Since 1981 he develops
musical work from texts of diverse authors. He has more than has
120 compositions in partnership with Adélia Prado and Augusto
de Campos, amongst others. Madan has two solo CDs, “Madan”
(1997) and “A Ópera do Rinoceronte” (1999),
beyond collective work “Umdoumdoum” (2001). The research
with the workmanship of Paes started in the end of the 90´s,
when he created the musical group “Lé com Cré”,
directed to the infantile, embryonic public of the CD “Brincando
com Palavras”. Jose Paulo Paes, besides being a poet, was
a translator, critic and researcher. The verses of Paes (1926
- 1998) translate with respect the infantile universe. Between
he´s published books we have: “Olha o Bicho”(1989),
“Uma letra puxa a outra” (1992) and “Um passarinho
me contou” (1996).
.
Keco
Brandão - France 'n' Bossa
- French music and its fantastic
phase were the main drive for the CD France 'n' Bossa, of the
victorious series “n' Bossa”, produced, arranged and
lead by the pianist, and composer, Keco Brandão. The new
heading detaches a period where the French songs were present
in the world through composers and interpreters as Charles Aznavour,
Edith Piaf, Françoise Hardy, Jacques Brel and Serge Gainsbourg.
The
CD France'n' Bossa respectively gives continuity to a project
idealized by the composer Thomas Roth and was started with the
CDs Classics'n'Bossa (2003) and Jazz'n'Bossa (2005), also recorded
by Keco, that brings recriations and variations on consecrated
workmanships of erudite music and the jazz. Keco says that French
music was always present in his life: "My parents and I always
heard these songs and they have assisted in the choice of the
repertoire. The result is romantic, playful and the use of strings
intensifies the melancholic mood, characteristic of this kind
of music." Keco, that currently takes part in the touring
band of Gal Costa, is also a music producer and in more than one
decade of career played and toured with Ivan Lins and Cesar Camargo
Mariano, among others. He also managed the TV program, “Cia
da Música” (CNT/Gazeta-1998), with João Marcelo
Bôscoli, in which he performed as an arranger for Milton
Nascimento, Luiz Melodia, Chico Cesar and João Bosco. He
also has another 2 CDs launched, “Tatanka” (2002),
that transits on the world music genre, focusing on music with
aboriginal manifestations and approach and “Paisagens do
Vento” (2004), first volume of the collection “Imagens
Sonoras” , that has a different concept to the music for
meditation as the term intends . In 2003, he was the producer
for the Golden Record , “Disco de Ouro” of Angela
Maria, who commemorated 50 years of career. France'n'Bossa´s
repertoire brings “classics” as Ne me quitte pas (Jacques
Brel), La vie in rose (Edith Piaf), C'est itself Bon (Andres Hornez
- Henri Betti Joseph) and L'amour C'est Comme one jour (Charles
Aznavour).
.
Moacyr
Luz - A Sedução Carioca do Poeta Brasileiro
- "A Sedução
do Poeta Carioca" is the seventh record of the singer and
composer Moacyr Luz, that surprises this time: instead of the
habitual excellent partners, he added music to the workmanships
of some of the greatest Brazilian poets who paid tribute, at distinct
times, to Rio De Janeiro and its enchantments. Here, the “Wonderful
City” is presented to us in a Kaleidoscope shape, with different
points of view for also distinct places and situations. It obviously
does not lack to the privileged nature with its beaches and mountains,
the people with its usual good mood, the situations of the daily
routines of the south zone and the suburbs, but this time the
paradisiacal disputes space with the violent and the savage, today
obligatorily parts of this world-wide postal card. Each
poet said a little on Rio De Janeiro. Among them, Ferreira Gullar
(Poema Sujo) and Vinícius de Moraes (Praia do Pinto), passing
through Carlos Drummond de Andrade (VII - Rio De Janeiro), Elisa
Lucinda (Olha que Coisa mais Linda mais Cheia de Graça)
and Aldir Blanc (Cantiga das Ilhas). The singer and he´s
acoustic guitar have accompaniment of consecrated group of “Choro”,
“Água de Moringa”. Other prominences are the
inspired layer drawn for the ilustrador Lan and the moved commentaries,
track by track , for irreverent times - of the humor critic, Jaguar,.
Two legends of Rio´s folklore. Moacyr, in more than two
decades of career, has collected compliments of the especialized
criticals. He has more than a hundred of recorded tracks by names
like Gilbert Gil, Maria Bethânia and Nana Caymmi. Its samba
“Saudades da Guanabara”, partnership with Aldir Blanc
and Paulo Cesar Pinheiro, sung by Beth Carvalho, was adopted as
a not-official hymn of Rio De Janeiro. He made his debut in 1988
with the LP “Moacyr Luz”, already edited in CD format,
“Vitória da Ilusão” (1995), “Mandingueiro”(1998),
“Na Galeria” (2001), “Samba da Cidade”
(2003) and “Voz e Violão”(2005). “A SEDUÇÃO
CARIOCA DO POETA BRASILEIRO” is a work full of ways for
those that want to leave themselves to be seducted by this enchantment.

.
Baden
Powell - Live à Bruxelles
-
The CD “Baden - Live à Bruxelles” , that LUA
MUSIC proudly places in the market, presents the acoustic guitar
master and composer Baden Powell in one of he´s most vibrant
performances. Recorded live in October of 1999, in Brussels (Belgium),
one year before its death, the album compiles classics of one
of the best Brazilian artists of all times. Baden
had an unique way of playing the guitar. In his music , there
was space for the technicity of erudite music and the suingue
of the popular harmony. This personal and unique skill to play,
going to the limit of the instrument has made him one of the more
popular Brazilian artists in the Europe, where he lived for long
time in Germany and France and recorded about 70 records. Among
the tracks of this new CD are some of his own compositions as
“Violão Vadio” and “Marcha Escocesa”,
the partnerships with Vinícius de Moraes (Berimbau e Consolação),
and rerecordings of Tom Jobim (Samba de Avião), Luiz Gonzaga
and Humberto Teixeira (Asa Branca) and Bach (Jesus Alegria dos
Homens).
.
Moisés
Santana - terra em trânsito
- The singer and composer Moisés
Santana has a rich musical work that joins Brazilian rithms as
samba, bossa-nova, chorinho, baião, and also rock, funk,
electronic music, in a very daring project, that has the surprise
as proposal.Creative and inteligent, his CD can be considered
a modern and stimulating Brazilian Music view. Other characteristic
is his worked out poetry, which reflects the modern man thoughts.
In a good-mooded and frequently using the irony resources, he
constructs characters who live in our world with passion, fears
and hope. The land in transit and a world in workmanships: it is
of a social vertigo, of a frozen cynicism as combustible of the
Brazilian tragedy, of an untied devil in the country of the sun,
of U.S.A., that Moisés Santana tells us in the heading
track of his album, “Terra em Trânsito”. And
he makes it in a “toada” rock groove, with funky distorted
guitars and of wimbled percussions. This same subject, not only
it, is in other nine own compositions, with prominence for the
elegant manifestos “Inteiro” and “Gentileza”
also, and in the four versions that come from his affective memory
– from the seventies - of the consolidated Bahia born artist
in São Paulo. “Cê tá pensando que eu
sou Lóki? , of Arnaldo Baptista, closes a cycle that started
in the beginning of the 80´s, when Santana was in charge
of a dedicated “Mutantes” fan-club . The disciple
sings with the master (multimidia track). They met in 2003 in
the “Comtradição” project (SP). The
atmospheric ballad “ Beira Mar” is a reverence to
the singer and composer Ednardo. A famous hit of the band “Nosso
Samba”, “O Ouro e a Madeira”, of Gentile Ederaldo,
is recreated in version that turned out really cool. The carnaval
style “Chão da Praça” of Moraes Moreira
and Fausto Nile, is carried to the cadence of house music. In
this transfer nothing is lost, after all, the carnival and the
electronic rythmn that comes out of Chicago congregates of the
same faith in dance.Musicians and producers as Teco Fuchs, Arthur
Joly (Mugomango), Ricardo Koctus (Pato Fu), Erbetta João
(Los Pirata), Alta Fidelidade, Tatá Aeroplano (Jumbo Elektro
and Cérebro Electrônico), Benjamin Taubkin, DJ Tano
(Záfrica Brazil), Teco Cardoso, Loop B, Fernando Forni,
Luis Bergmann, Gigi Magno, Rogério Bastos, Ricardo Pinda
and much others. A diverse workmanship in which does not fit the
acknowledgment of upheaval.
.
mim
- eu mim meu
- The
Latin rock of “mim” in the CD “eu mim meu”.
The voice, almost whispered, is also provocative: "¿
si te digo un secreto me lo crees?”The secret in question
is the first album of “mim” (thus exactly, in small
letters) , one of most interesting of the new harvest of Rio de
Janeiro. ”eu mim meu” , by LUA MUSIC, is the result
of the solo project of the singer, composer and guitarist Eva,
coming from a band called Polux, one of the most underground punk
rock bands from Rio in the 90´s. After the dissolution of
the group (that also generated “Leela”), Eva converged
for a sonorous diversity that ended up in her latin rock. Beyond
the punk vein, she also started to deal with trip hop, pop, bossa
nova, “baião”, after-punk, latin music, noises
and distortions. Under the production of Brazilian contemporary
names like Jr. Tostoi, Eva gave form to her new identity. Jr Tostoi
(guitarist of Lenine and the Vulgue Tostoi) produced great part
of the album. Also they had produced Marcos Cunha, Victor Z, Rodrigo
Campelo (responsible for Fernanda Abreu´s last CD) and Carlos
Trilha (of Lobão´s recent CD) Eva makes of her lyrics
small mosaic of feelings, pleasures (some sexual , other morbids),
doubts, pains and provocations. Some estories are built, but their
actors are normal people, just like you and me. This diversity
- of subjects and sounds - composes what she calls "perverted
pop ". The opening of the CD is strategical: Eva starts from
her punk rock roots to draw influences acquired pos-Polux. Thus
it goes tacking rhythms from the one groovy-after-punk, “Tanto
Fez- Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and Killers”. A sample
of the erotic-bizarre universe of her verses that, time to times,
are sung in Spanish, as she was born in Argentina and spent a
reasonable time there. The trip continues with trip hop “Hoje”,
that it brings whispers on BPMs. Beyond being emotive, it demonstrates
that, despite Rio´s beach and sun lifestyle, Rio also generates
sadish and melancholic environments. And verses like " Sonhei
com uma roseira onde nasciam uvas/ Em um jardim de gatos em vez
de capim/ Meninas ruivas fugindo da chuva/ Que choravam lágrimas
de pedras” can serve in such a way to illustrate Christmas
cards as to inspire collections of fashion parade - as of fact
it inspired in the most recent edition of the “Fashion Rio”
. Eva imagined the repertoire as being the two sides of a record.
"Everybody hears the beginning of the record in the car.
I have the habit to also know the final part ", she explains.
What she explains the seventh track, “Lado B”. Here
she retakes the beginning of the "Lado A" on noises
and riffs of guitar. She provokes with malicious laugh - in Portuguese
and Spanish of this one such secret. PJ Harvey influence, catching
the best of the English singer, as periodic screams and one `certain
' sensuality. This “segundo lado” ' travels through
the electronics bringing the definitive versions of “ A
Mancha” and “Subte A”, of the repertoire of
Polux. Originally punk, it had gained irresistible groove with
inverted loops, funky grooves and samplers. Excellent example
of combination between mystery, sadism, sex and violence. Morbid,
exciting, instigating, stimulant, provocative, sensual. Electronic,
pop, rock, Latin, Brazilian. Take this pleasant trip through the
universe of good music. And after eleven beautiful tracks , discovers
the “mim” that is inside of you. Abonico Smith is
the editor of the site “Bacana” (www.bacana.mus.br).

Alaíde
Costa - Tudo que o Tempo me Deixou
- One of the most appraised voices of Brazilian music and owner
of spotless technique, Alaíde Costa, completes 50 years
of one of the most shining careers. And who earns the gift is
the public with the CD “Tudo que o Tempo me Deixou”
(LUA MUSIC). Produced by the pianist, Gilson Peranzzetta and
recorded in an acoustic-live environment, the repertoire brings
sophistication, common fact in the works of this great interpreter.
Three unreleased tracks are of Alaíde´s ownership:
“Saída”, “Você é Amor”
(partnership with Tom Jobim) and “Meu Sonho” (with
Johnny Alf). Another plus of the CD is the election of composers
/ songwritters, Dolores Duran (Solidão), Fátima
Guedes (Minha Nossa Senhora) and Sueli Costa (with Abel Silva)
(Voz de Mulher). Born in Rio but living in São Paulo,
Alaíde was 16 years old when she started to sing in live
programs like the “Ary Barroso” show. In the end
of the 50´s , she was already a well respected professional,
like Sylvia Telles and Dolores Duran. João Gilbert brought
her to the group of Bossa Nova alikes. It was a perfect match,
Alaíde had the sensitivity and same new musical conception
of artists such as Roberto Menescal, Carlos Lyra, Tom Jobim
and others. It is of this period one of her best recorded tracks,
“Onde está você?”, written by Oscar
Castro Neves and Luvercy Fiorini. In the end of the 60´s
Alaíde was moved away from the artistic scene due to
personal issues, coming back in 1972, and it is of this time
her historical participation in the record “Clube da Esquina”,
besides Milton Nascimento. From then, a few albums came as “Águas
Vivas”, “Falando de Amor” and ”Rasguei
a minha Fantasia”. Alaíde explains the new CD:
"the heading says it all, it is exactly what the time left
for me . The experiences, the sadnesses and the joys. It was
rewarding to have crossed these 50 years without having that
to make appeals or concessions. I feel myself victorious, even
though I still haveto fight strong for my own survival.".
It is the second time that Alaíde works with the “maestro”
and pianist Gilson Peranzzetta. He also produced the CD “Amiga
de Verdade” in 1988. One of the most talented Brazilian
musicians, Peranzzetta is considered, for also the “maestro”
Quincy Jones, one of the five biggest arrangement producers
of the world. Gilson worked much time with Ivan Lins and had
recorded tracks for Djavan, Sarah Vaughan, George Benson and
Dianne Schurr. Beyond Gilson (piano and arrangements), Russian
Pablo (acoustic bass), João Cortez (battery), Mauro Senise
(sax and flute) and David Chew (violoncelo) also participate
in the record.

Maciel
Melo - Dê Cá um Cheiro
- He is considered by many people the most complete songwritter
/ composer of forró in activity in the Northeast, Maciel
Melo is author of recorded successes by Fagner, Elba Ramalho
and Flávio José, among others. In its new CD,
“De Cá um Cheiro”, this Pernambuco born,
presents a groovy and diversified repertoire, bringing up to
date, without depriving the Forró characteristics, the
music that was launched in the world by the great Luiz Gonzaga,
of whom he considers himself a devoted. Maciel already is part
of the history of music in the northeastern, mainly after Fagner
and Francisco José took hold of his track “Caboclo
Sonhador” ("Sou um caboclo sonhador meu senhor viu/
Não queira mudar meu verso/Se é assim não
tem conversa / Meu regresso para o brejo”a Forró
classic. From there, melody and lyrics walk hand in hand, as
it is shown in “De Cá um Cheiro” l, that
LUA MUSIC proudly puts in the market. Another important information
about his workmanship is the thematic of the lyrics, highly
considered for the continuity of Forró. The joys and
frustrations of the love are gifts in such a way, as are the
poetry of the improvisors. It is the vibrant country soul, reflecting
the proud tradition of the northeastern rhythm. Career : The
first record of Maciel Melo, still in the LP, format was “Desafio
das Léguas”, 1989. Seven years later it was the
time for “Janelas” , followed by “Retinas”
(97). He also participated in the compilation “SóForró”
(Kuarup/98), alongside with Sivuca, Xangai, Dominguinhos, Marines
and Petrúcio Amorim. From there came “Jeito Maroto”
(99), “Isso Vale um Abraço”(2000), “Acelerando
o Coração”(2001) and “O Soldado da
Chinela” (2002). In the his repertoire, own tracks like
“Arenga”,”Um Veio dágua” and
“A Poeira e a Estrada”, beyond the rerecording of

from Senegal and candomblé. It's a musical trip, from the
dancing Música para dançar, the well-mooded pop-samba
Dinheiro , the funk-rap Retrovisor, the ethnic pop Zimbakumba
and even the ballad De Cor , which has part of the lyrics in English
and the special guest appearence of Tiffany, a north american
